Expatriate Health Insurance
The impact of a sudden illness or accident can be devastating and even more so without an adequate Health Insurance policy to cover the financial expenses that you incur. Whilst some medical insurance is better than none at all, we would recommend that expatriates choose a portable global comprehensive health policy to protect against large financial losses.

It is advisable for most Expats to establish a Health Insurance policy on a worldwide, portable basis in order to enjoy continuation of coverage in the event of a future relocation. If you are forced to cancel your policy due to moving country, you may find that any pre-existing health conditions will be excluded from future policies.
Expatriate Top-up Insurance
Many expatriates are provided with Health Insurance through employment, however, the benefits may be limited and insufficient for you and your family's needs. Furthermore, there are only a few employer group health schemes that allow you to take over the plan personally in the event of redundancy or resignation, leaving you without cover or potentially uninsurable in the future. Our IPG Consultants can advise you on the best method of topping up your health cover with a personal portable policy.
Check whether your Employer health scheme can be transferred to an individual policy in the event of leaving the company to ensure you receive continuation of cover.
Maternity Insurance and Newborn Care Options
Most Worldwide Health Insurance policies have Maternity and Newborn Care cover, or an option to add this cover. The medical costs involved in delivery, prenatal and postnatal care are significant in Singapore. Our IPG consultants will provide advice on the variety of options that you have.
Maternity Insurance will carry a waiting period of typically 10 months so it is advisable to be prepared and have the right plan in place.
Dental Cover
Dental cover is typically available as an option on your health insurance policy. Different policies may allow you to select cover across a range of areas from the small trips to the dentist to the unexpected. Some plans may also provide coverage for certain types of oral surgery, dental implants, or orthodontia.
Depending on your policy choice, cover may be available for the following areas:
- Routine dental treatments, such as covered check-ups, x-rays and hygiene treatments
- Corrective or restorative treatments, such as fillings, crowns and dentures
- Unexpected corrective or restorative dental treatments, including cover for mouth cancer
- Worldwide cover for accidents and dental emergencies
